Did you know the world’s only whitewater Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) high school team is right here in Richmond, Virginia at Trinity Episcopal School?!
Meet a few of the team members and see them on their first run through the whitewater rapids of downtown RVA. See them live and in action Mondays and Wednesdays at Belle Isle, The Bridge to Nowhere at Brown’s Island, and either at the floodwall or pipeline, for high water or low water, respectively.
Find it inspiring and want to learn how to SUP the whitewater?
Riverside Outfitters offers ACA-certified Level 4 whitewater instruction. Be sure to take advantage of their frequent groupons! Classes are held on the smaller rapids on the upper James River section of Pony Pasture to Reedy Creek. Stick with it and you, too, might run the rapids through downtown Richmond!
We were voted the “Best River Town” by Outside Magazine in 2012 and our community of river lovers has only grown and flourished since then. And because of young people like the paddlers at Trinity, we’re making active, river-loving options all the more abundant!
